About The Lodge
Marangan Lodge was originally founded in 1870 under the English Constitution, and it's first Master was John Liston. There are no records of meetings between February to December 1872, but in January 1873 Dr.J.Niicholson was elected as Master.
The Lodge then went into recess and was re-opened in 1889 under the Victorian Constitution, with Rev.E.Rodda being Master.
In 1902 the Lodge built it's own Temple in Benalla Street and provision was made for further extensions. These have taken place over the years.
Marangan Lodge has sponsored Lodge Faithful and The Euroa Lodge, which in turn sponsored the Violet Town Lodge.
Whilst membership is not as big as it used to be, the Lodge is still very active in the community and supports many and varied charities such as:
The Benalla Hospital, The Benalla Theatre Company, The Benalla College with music scholarships as well as enabling students to walk the Kokoda Track among many others.
