About The Lodge

The Lodge of Quest was consecrated on Thursday 8 August 1946 at the Box Hill Masonic Centre. It was sponsored by Blackburn Lodge No. 420 and had 21 Founding members. The Consecration and Installation Presiding Officer was RWBro. R.A (Rowland) Rowe, Deputy Grand Master.

The origin of our name was taken from the “Secret Tradition” by A. E. Waite and is demonstrated by the quote –

“And so the Quest goes on. And the Quest, as it may be, ends in attainment – we know not where and when; so long as we can conceive of our separate existence, the quest goes on – an attainment continued hence forward. And ever shall the study of the ways which have been followed by those who have passed in front be a help on our own path.”

It seems logical then that our daughter Lodge should be named Lodge of Attainment No. 781 – consecrated in 1956.

Community support is carried out through the Social Committee which supports local charities with donations. Some larger donations have been to the Monash Medical Centre, a computer to assist a child with learning disabilities, and a motorized wheelchair for a youngster who had outgrown his own.

Some traditions that are observed in the Lodge are the RC Davies Memorial Talk each April to remind us of the sacrifices of services members in all wars, honouring our ladies with a Ladies in the South in December event and the passing of the Master's Perpetual jewel to the Incoming Master.

A family Lodge with a fine tradition, visitors from other Lodges are welcome at the Lodge and non-freemasons are also welcome.
