As part of the annual Good Friday Family Fun Day at Longford, members and family of three Gippsland Lodges combined forces to assist in raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Having been approached to represent Freemasons Victoria on a sub-committee, Rebecca and Liam Cole have been assisting in the raising of funds for both Monash Children’s Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal throughout the year.

The work that the pair, and their two children (Kobe` 10 and Sienna 7), have seen more than $2,500 raised for Monash Children’s Hospital and more than $34,500 raised for RCH Good Friday Appeal.

Throughout the year the events have included Race Nights at Sale Greyhounds, and Kids Day’s in the Sale Mall.

In the weeks leading up Good Friday, the Sale Lions Club on behalf of the Committee for the Good Friday Family Fun Day at Longford, approached Rebecca and Liam to see if it were possible to raise a few volunteers from Freemasons to run the BBQ at the event.

Members from Gippsland Lodge 51 and King Edward Lodge volunteered their time and donated goods to successfully run the BBQ, raising $459 on the day. This amount contributed to the $7,000 raised on the day from gold coin entry, raffles, kids ride, and stall fees.

The attendance by representatives from Freemasons have created a partnership with the committee to assist in the event next year and beyond.

Thank you to Adam Bell (King Edward Lodge), his mother Margaret, Mal Nichols (Gippsland Lodge 51), Casey Nichols (Nichos Farm – Free Range Eggs), Jim Missen (King Edward Lodge), and Frank Dorber (King Edward Lodge), Liam Cole (Argyle Lodge/Gippsland Lodge) and his wife Rebecca for donating time and goods to the BBQ and for promoting Freemasonry.
