Christmas is around the corner, and Freemasons Victoria are proud to be associated with the Luke Batty Foundation. The foundation was established in 2014, after Luke Batty was tragically killed by his father during cricket practice in Tyabb, Victoria and aims to support women and children affected by the trauma of family violence. Story by W.Bro. Bob Smith
I have recently returned from a 7 week visit to Atlanta Georgia (GA) where I visited The Kennesaw Masonic Lodge No 33, Marietta GA.
Upon being accepted into the Lodge it is customary on these occasions for Visitors to be welcomed by The Master of the Lodge. In return, Visitors generally present the Master with a Gift from their home Lodge.
I chose to present The Master with “Lewis” The Masonic Bear on behalf of The Master of “Mornington Masonic Lodge 160”.
“Lewis” was an appropriate title for the bear to represent the death of a young boy named Luke Batty who was killed by his father whilst practicing cricket at the local oval in Tyaab.
The members of The Kennesaw Lodge were so moved by the speech that they immediately sought to buy “Lewis” to promote the fund raising “Against Domestic Violence” in the name of The Luke Batty Foundation. Arrangements are now being made to promote “Lewis” on eBay and Instagram so that he can be bought around the World.
Lewis’ presence is an important representation, which helps promote the on-going support from Freemasons Victoria of the awareness against domestic violence.
You too can be part if this movement by purchasing Lewis the Bear for only $29.95. Contact Edy Wilfing at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0400 578 710.
