The practice of benevolence, or universal
charity, is a core belief of Freemasons everywhere. Freemasonry was founded on the principle
of universal charity and has a proud history of assisting those in need. Established in 1889
Freemasons Victoria’s Board of Benevolence is of Victoria’s oldest charitable funds.
The Board of Benevolence runs several specific charitable programmes throughout the year.
These include Scholarships and Tertiary assistance awards, charity challenges and financial
counselling for members. These are ongoing or reoccurring programmes which happen through
the year.
The Board of Benevolence
The Board of Benevolence is the charitable arm of Freemasons Victoria. It offers a number of
ongoing projects of financial assistance to the Community.
Scholarships
Freemasons Victoria, through the Board of Benevolence annually assists Victorian Students who
have demonstrated academic excellence to further their studies.
Freemasons Public Charitable Foundation
An autonomous foundation that raises tax deductible donations and distributes them to
community organisations and charities.
Charity Challenges
The Board conducts charity challenges throughout the districts to encourage and support local
lodges in their fund raising activities.
